no experience special training required. just don't be a creep about it because one task we need is fairly minimal bathing assistance. we can hire separately for that if it's uncomfortable & someone can't be normal about seeing other people's bodies. threads are deliberately open to contact me.

if you/someone you know is looking for a job in the SFV even if it's temporary while you search for a job, I'm hiring an in-home health aide (NOT live-in) 35 hours per week, start date dependent on background check. my spouse & I need this desperately to continue living independently.

the ease with which I get called "sir" these days is amazing.

You weren’t “aloof”.

You were protecting your nervous system.

You weren’t “uninterested”.

You were overstimulated.

You weren’t “self-isolating”.

You were seeking safety.

They called it avoidance.

But it was preservation.

This is the life of the autistic human.

& of course when I go to book my trip before going to bed (because it saves me doing so later), using the app, it says, "invalid booking Access time".

I don't know what in the seven hells that actually means.

I'm guessing the app doesn't want to work until business hours?

amusingly some of them are blocking me before I block them back, means I got onto a list of some sort somewhere. isn't there a tool to see whose lists you're in?

may I introduce you to @dreamwidth.org? the website itself is what LiveJournal could have and would have been, if only on a different turn of the wheel. & @rahaeli.bsky.social & others as well as a bunch of volunteer effort keeps everything running. the only thing it needs is widespread adoption.

damn. I knew the period of calm & quiet from the last time was too good to last. (I'm a relative no-one these days, overall. but my social circle includes peripheral plus to all of the places she manages to hurt, insinuate with, & drag out upon, & I have vested interests in prevention.)

stop blaming peoples' unacceptable or violent behavior on mental illness.

point the blame at the feet of:

- maga
- the tea party garbage
- q-anon
- conspiracy theories

the modern far-right now has a martyr. don't let them use it.

The US arms Israel, protects Israel at the UN, pressures allies to support Israel, produces jokey AI videos, then wants credit for a peace plan?

Gaza is destroyed, tens of thousands are dead, many of them children, all with US blessing.

The US is a partner in this genocide, not a peacemaker.

sensory-friendly hours at places whether it's the grocery store or the theatre I love all of it. if somewhere does that & I can get there I will go there over somewhere that is possibly more convenient, because the sensory-friendly hours are more convenient for my brain.

offline (there's so many) I'm just going to pick a few at random.

making sure that lines/queues have adequate social distancing. otherwise it's claustrophobia & PTSD hell & someone ends up touching me without my consent so then I get all activated & freak out; or worse—I lash out if too startled.

#Accessibility for me includes transcripts instead of just captions/subtitles for videos.

reading captions & watching the video at the same time is almost impossible for me. I end up paused advancing video frame by frame over & over so I can read it…

if the player even includes that capability.

I have now been up to the point where I am still awake when my spouse first wakes up. this should, logically, be my signal to go to bed but I well and truly am only the slightest bit tired.

might still go take the rest break so that I can cuddle because if I go bed later & no cuddle I'll be sad.

I bought some optional textbooks to start with; Saturday I bought an extra book to deal with the fact that the PDF journal article examining a study in which this method is tested was illegible to me—so now I have the ($60+) book instead.

if I'm to work in this field I'll need it eventually anyway.

ID: A calico cat curled into a croissant, with orange tabby splotches on white fur & an upside down heart mask of black fur above her eyes is licking one of her legs while bathing herself. there is an blep occurring.

there's a lot to balance here & a real case load consists of multiple patients per day/week.

I want to say that I'm not wasting money/time pursuing this degree. even without real life, I am learning from the examples.

I can do this.

otherwise I just wasted a bunch of money on textbooks etc.

it's stated at the beginning of the paragraph but my eyes have already glazed over with the number of processes that the clinician is balancing at once.

which also makes me really uncertain; if I can't even keep up with an example in a class how the fuck would I keep up with a practicum placement?
wheretherider.bsky.social
okay I managed to post in the whole clinical thing thread & then did edit my post once I saw something on someone else's that made me bang my head against the desk for how simple and obvious this is (that the primary legal issue in the vignette is the client being referred by the court for a DUI).

it's not quite #Caturday anymore but here's a #Cat #Photograph anyway. here's Zoey being adorable—but she's laying on a bunch of empty packing materials from Amazon orders so I can't clean it up. she loves the paper envelopes, the plastic (that we take away when she isn't directly supervised), etc.

my spouse likes them, I can't stand them, but they're pretty mild & inoffensive—just not my jam.

if you're ever down here, I pretty much always have some sort of adventurous snacks from the a Chinese & Korean markets, & of course there's Uwajimaya in Little Tokyo as a day trip from where we live.
