I think it’s to do with the SVG textures and the GPU. I’ll have to have a look at it.

We have a PC as the lounge TV and the child has, on a few occasions, found himself scrolling YT shorts even though he knows he shouldn’t. You can hide them but they return after 30 days.

We’ve chatted about this and I said it’s not his fault. it’s designed like that. We must educate the kids.

p.s. I now also have a dedicated page for my webring.

Check it out and if you’d like to join, click the join button to be taken to the GitHub repo where you can submit a PR.

Hmm that is very much not intentional. There are no fade in effects on the text 😅

If you use the public API, you get all replies, as there's no way to know if anyone has hidden them or not. At least that's what I observed.

❤️
me 4 hours ago: let’s redesign this website let’s go

me 1 hour ago: oh no this is gonna take a while, why am i doing this

me now: the time invested is the joy

And in order to *get* hidden replies, as in the posts I specifically chose to hide, I need to fetch the posts as me, ie authenticated.
January 9, 2026 at 8:17 PM
As far as I could see, the threadgate had the hidden replies, so I filtered those out of the actual replies.
