Hello! I'm a Canadian fox that paints miniatures, resin kits, gunpla, and the occasional scale model kit! I also dabble with mixed media art. He/him.
Super tasty too! I think this was the Fox Cheeseburger, with poutine as a side.

Sadly, no foxes working front of house. Perhaps they were in charge of the kitchen!

Hello old friend. Back in the day, I used to have "Save Us" in my sets relatively often. Absolutely loved the song, and there's so many ways one could go with the flow for the mix with it...

I've wanted more accurate colour photographs of where Taurus is at, so out came the G85. Painting this time was mainly focused on his armour. I'm working on coaxing it towards some sort of rusty orange-red.

Managed to get in two sessions on Taurus today, and things feel like they're coming together on his armour, so I'm quite happy there. Will post pics tomorrow because oh boy am I tired, so here's some swatches of the AK paint I picked up (shop will be giving me a replacement Chocolate as it's DOA)

I'm not quite as heavy handed these days as I was with those Infinity models for the underpainting, so here's a more recent example. I tend to go slightly heavier with the brighter phase for drybrushing so I can more readily see the details on the miniatures.

You mentioned slapchop, which has a similar underpainting to my current process, so I can touch on that. First pic is close enough to my usual process (old had Dark Neutral Grey before Warm Grey), second pic the Dark Jade (I think) is one coat, and third pic the Burnt Red is a single coat.

I'll probably be tweaking which 34 colours are on the desk, but every model gets some ProAcryl on it (even ones I plan to use oils on), as I use a combination of their Warm Grey, Ivory, and Titanium White for the initial underpainting, which I drybrush on.

Warm Yellow has replaced Golden Yellow.

ProAcryl is the main acrylic paint I use, although I switched things over to their flip top lids as I prefer how the dropper tip is, as well as being able to have nice swatches of the dried colours on top of said bottles.

AK's paint bottles will probably go where the Liquitex tubes are atm.

Been a while since I've gotten some paints, so I figured I'd get a few before winter sets in around here...

Really like the wide selection @tapsgames.bsky.social has for paints! Wanted to get my paws on a few sets from AK, and fill in some earthier tones I didn't quite have covered.

Quick update on how Taurus is looking. Mobile's made his skin and armour too bright, but eh, I'll try to remember to take nicer photos tomorrow!

Armour's blocked in more or less, updated skin underpainting, and I've been working on the leather.

Trying to work out a few issues I've got going at the painting desk, so decided now would be a good time to try out my AK Interactive Basic Starter Set. I definitely like them, that's for sure, but will need more testing.

Information boards that were next to the setup. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of who the modeller was, and sadly I didn't get a chance to talk to them as several others were having a rather in depth conversation.

Either way, I rather enjoyed it. Same photo twice to allow for alt text.

Local train show was definitely interesting to check out. While there were several clubs with fairly large FreeMon and other standards of modular table (many of which had quite the amount of detail), one of the ones that stood out the most to me was Tsuji Tokyo Crossorads.

Been dealing with neck flaring up and some pretty bad shakes and involuntary twitches of the wrists lately, but I've managed to get a few more things blocked in on Taurus!

Today's photos are with the painting lights off, as my phone was really over-exposing things with them on. Started blocking in the leather with ProAcryl Mahogany, with the plan of using a few colours of layering to make it look like old, but well cared for leather.

I'd say mine is clean...ish. Everything I need is close at hand, but out of the way.

Two palettes because the one on the right is for oils.

Oh right, I can do threads for builds...

I'm going to shift my thoughts and paint the armour and leather with acrylics. I started by blocking in the armour over several short sessions, as I'm still feeling the effects from yesterday's intense physiotherapy.

Since I have a good idea of what colours I'll be going with for Taurus' flesh (rusty orange-red), and the cloth (purple, with blue leanings), I've been trying to work out colours for his armour and leather.

A quick look at my "speed rack" of paints, and ooh... Hello! Those will definitely do! 1/5

Decided to go a little further with Taurus' underpainting. Not sure if I'll do any underpainting with acrylics on the leather, armour, and weapons, as I think for those I'd rather use pre-staining techniques instead.

So nice to see colour laid down on him!

Verminlord Corruptor is also prepped! What will be either ~the~ centerpiece of The Unrelenting Tide, or one of two centerpieces. I still can't decide if I want a second one, but if I do build a second one I'm going to see what kind of kitbashing shenanigans I can get up to with it!

Underpainting on Taurus... Done.

I think.

High Grade kits (first pic) are around 5" tall, and vary in width depending on how you pose them and what weapons they have, while SD kits (second pic) seem to be in the 3-3.5" tall range (varies depending on the model).

Apologies for the dust, haven't dusted the display shelf for some time.

It isn't Taurus (he's up next), but a variety of models destined for the Chew Toys (my Space Marines), The Unrelenting Tide (my Skaven), and a few monthly freebie minis are now headed to the cabinet to wait their turn for painting.

Infinity models need some touching up before they're prepped.

Stuff's happening on the desk, whoo!

...No, it isn't some cult worshipping the larger models, just a way of keeping tabs of what's had that particular pass I'm working on applied.

Yup, Taurus is my main priority, but my rule is minis can't go into the case unless primed and underpainted/prepped!
August 15, 2025 at 2:20 AM
It begins! Custom mixed base layer of roughly 2.5:1:1 Black Primer + Dark Magenta + Dark Purple laid down. Didn't quite give the intended effect, but either way HE'S PRIMED, WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
