@tomjennings @europlus Best question in statistics in media: “Is that a large number?”

@younata 360 video is a pretty good use case for 8K.

Just a tip for anyone with 6K cameras: Don’t upload it (as a 360 video) as a 6K video to YouTube. You need to rescale it (e.g. with Handbrake) to 8K so that YouTube can see the detail. By default, YouTube will just convert it to 4K and then […]

@stroughtonsmith Maybe you’re choosing to do so for professional purposes, but why spend months on a setting you clearly don’t prefer? e.g. Isn’t it better to turn off “Natural Scrolling” than go online for group therapy?

I don’t use Unified at all so I have no opinion on it. Perhaps you’re […]

Oh — and you can really split the autistics and allistics by telling who it is that is impressed with a prop car levitating VERY slowly and rotating VERY slowly over the stage and a few rows of the audience.

The same folks won't know or care about the split in the timeline that Doc Brown […]

@timbray I mean, I’ve wished the same thing about Facebook. It’s the same cause and effect.

I don’t use the popular word, but prefer “jengafication”. There’s an element of inevitability to it, even necessity. But good engineering aims for strength with lightness, not just lightness.

@stroughtonsmith I started my career in web development when IE 6 was holding us all under its thumb — not sure we’re in danger of returning there, at least not without standard maintenance — but I still remember my otherwise-reasonable manager getting upset that I wanted to spend the effort to […]

@evilotto @spocko @ai6yr @NanoRaptor https://clocks.com.au/mega-1000/

Before wifi and Bluetooth and cellular, this is one of the only wristwatches (“Funkuhr”) that would receive the time via broadcast radio. Casio had some, but this is the luxury one.

@evilotto @spocko @ai6yr @NanoRaptor Between this and the Junghans Mega 1000, this is the closest I’ve felt connected to the future other than today’s announcement of a smartwatch that literally talks 2-way to satellites
