Yeah, a lot of people I know working LLMs also had that opinion held pretty strongly, but now that the cat is out of the bag we have to work with what we have. Deepseek coming out and the abliteration techniques being applied to it really ripped that strategy wide open

Oh yeah, totally agree, there was that study recently showing how paper farms were fabricating academic research on a pretty massive scale, and then the authors went back and did some early update on their work and found that LLMs had significantly accelerated it

Yeah, they're still optimistic about some LLM stuff, but this is a very concerning pivot in their narratives. I'm happy they are doing it though, this touches on my long standing concern around what danger LLMs present
