I think that's fair. And I think a lot of people don't like it. I think it's a fascinating glimpse of what the fantasy genre could look like in the 1930s, even if it's basically the only major example.

Elf and the like are really helped by being repeated ad nauseam on TV every year. Makes them feel festive and part of the season. Klaus being on Netflix really hurts it this way.

He interests me because I don't think he was as instinctively good at acting as say Robin Williams or Jim Carrey, but years of practice have built the muscle.

There is something magical about a television series that perennially takes place in the "holiday season" (there is no Advent) where Christmas is a nebulous, postulated future event that will never actually occur, and so many people die during it.
