PT PhD student by night - interested in the representation of military aviators in popular culture. A librarian for the USAF by day. Easily distracted at all times by biathlon, geopolitical arguments, rugby, murder mysteries, or livestreams of airfields.
My coworker at the library is a huge fan of "Milking Farm," another Minotaur romance, only the guy seems to be 'all bull'. When I asked if that wasn't just beastiality, then, she denied it on the basis that the main bull/minotaur/unsure character 'owns his own business' so that makes it not-weird.

You ever find there are places in the world forbidden to you for your own safety or that of your bank account?

The Yooper in-laws are having a seasonal time (I'm told that's 20 inches - an amount that would end life as we know it in the UK)

One of my favourite TV genres is "Oh good, Channel Four's Walter Presents has another German murder mystery set in the early 90s where one of the factors is 'creepy former East German folk horror elements'" (Roots of Evil/Die Quellen des Bösen) There goes my afternoon :)

Watching the 120kg+ Squat (men) at the Powerlifting World Equipped Championships on TV, a sport new to me (I've only seen Olympics style weightlifting). Greatly 'amused' (impressed) that it takes FIVE HUGE GUYS to 'spot' the one huge guy doing the squat! It's 450kg so far O.O

You're assembling Kaldra or whatever but I'm double-sleeving my US Air Force Over Kosovo Aircraft and Armament Collector Cards. We are not the same.

Post you from a different era

Early 80s central Queensland, visiting a friend's cattle station where they let me ride a small horse called Freckles ;)

I think it's the Girl's Own Annual from 1889. It's tatty, but has lovely illustrations, highly pompous and moralising Victorian stories, and an 'Answer to Correspondents' column in each issue included that is a combo of facts, advice, & obscure answers worthy of espionage communications ;)

I'd read Jack D. Hunter's novel The Blue Max, but just got around to watching the 1966 movie (loosely!) based on the book. Biggest similarity was how unlikeable the characters are, although why they're unlikeable varies from book to movie! Different people die. Aircraft are wrong (but oh well). 4/10

I'm having a day off work as I'm meant to be writing, so of course that means I'm doing anything BUT write. Instead I'm finally getting to try what the UK is calling a 'lamington'!

Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?

(Bizarrely my show is also Ultraviolet, but NOT the same one as the person I'm reblogging this thread from!) 😆

I've been reading the novelisation, a fairly hefty critique (!) by Rogin, and some academic articles & chapters that reference the movie. So far my main outrage is that all the big fighter attacks in the novel are by the mighty F-15, unlike the preference for Hornets in the movie version ;)
