I didn’t really know Natalie DuPree, except as a FB friend, but I did vote for her when she ran her 2010 write-in campaign for US Senator against Jim DeMint.

She was the one commonality between two alien-to-each-other worlds that moved in at that time: Food World and Democratic Politics World.

Lemon Ricotta Cheesecakes hot from their water baths. Just 6" each ~ they bake so much better as small cakes and never crack.

I'll unmold tomorrow after they chill overnight in the refrigerator.

My Christmas go-to for many years ~ Nigella's ginger-glazed ham. Easy to scale down for a smaller ham, both in ingredients and time simmering.

What's on your Christmas menu this year?

Ginger-Glazed Ham
This gammon is simply simmered in ginger ale and, although you need to strip off the rind to glaze it, the glaze is straightforward. And it is a very efficient way of cooking — depending on how many y...

Getting excited and prepared for the family to gather around tomorrow.

Pie looks promising.

Thanksgiving prep well underway. Double batching cranberry sauce. I found Ocean Spray organic this year and I'm glad I read the package directions. They lowered both the sugar and water amounts per package from 1 cup each to 2/3 cup each.

For me, the thing that knocked the wind out of me with this election is that I dared to believe America would get it right THIS time, that America was ready for a Woman President.

It hurt having that blind faith in neighbors, friends, and strangers smacked out of me.

Dammit, America. 😞

Bread rolls, from Ottolenghi's newest cookbook, "Comfort."

These will be on our Thanksgiving table and they definitely rival my long-standing tried-and-true recipe. The recipe uses potato water and also mashed potato ~ a reminder of my mom's way of baking bread.

Homemade granola. A must in our home for topping granola and sometimes ice cream.

My go-to recipe from Sara Foster. I adapt by using unsweetened coconut, reducing the maple syrup to 1/2 cup, and adding cacao nibs.

The best ever pumpkin bread.
It's time! I want this to be the last recipe for pumpkin bread you'll ever need: towering with a crisp cinnamon-sugar lid that's impossible not to pick off in deeply satisfying bark-like flecks. It's also one-bowl and uses a full can of pumpkin in a single loaf.
