A lovely few hours at Blashford Lakes yesterday morning. 46sp seen. Highlights were a busy Woodland Hide where it was nice to see some siskins and the kingfisher in an unexpected place.

Beautiful sunrise walk along Baiter Park this morning and then back through Poole Park.
1 red-breasted merganser & 5 Brent geese seen from Baiter
Mandarin Duck in the pond at Poole Park and a sparrowhawk flew low over the pond sending the gulls haywire.

Was interesting to see house martins visiting a nest. I think these are a second brood who have fledged and still popping back occasionally.

A quick walk along the Ringwood section of the Castleman Trailway yesterday produced lots of birds and loads of wagtails.

Back to work today but had an early finish so had time for a quick walk around the Stour Valley Nature Reserve. Six cygnets now adult-size which is a good effort from the parents.

Just watched @rspb.bsky.social's short film "Return" about white-tailed eagles. It's really lovely! A few years ago seeing one locally seemed impossible but now I've seen them all over the area and they are even breeding!

An unexpected spot when wandering in Poole this morning was this Wasp Spider. There was a small bit of waste ground on an otherwise residential road and it has built a web on top of the fence.
