Retired psychologist/professor. Mostly just ride my bike, paddle my kayak, read, hike and take a few pictures. I enjoy camping. Have recently come to appreciate native plants.
I started kayaking late in life and have been intrigued by the number of times it looks like the way is blocked but on closer observation it is empty. Today I expected to have to turn around but there was an opening.

This is a blossom from a Tulip poplar also called yellow poplar. It is a native tree that grows up to 200 feet tall so blossoms are hard to see. This one was blown free by a storm last night.

Ralph Ellison said :"the development of conscious, articulate citizens being an established goal of this democratic society ..."

That seems like a valuable goal that we are losing.

We’re partnering w/ a number of groups participating in an #economicblackout THIS Friday, 2/28.

Do not spend, if possible.
No Starbucks on your way to work.
No drinks w/ the coworkers after work.
No dining out.
No Walmart run.
No quick McDonald’s drive-thru hit.

Hurt their wallets!

Thank you, President Biden.
Thank you for your lifetime of public service. Thank you for your kindness, your compassion, your empathy, your character, your love for America and for your leadership.
You have given everything to our nation.
And I shall remain forever grateful.

I read that some states restrict collecting water from rain on your own property. Also police applicants can be rejected for scoring too high on an intelligence test. The theory is that they will get bored and quit.
I think I can make the switch.
