More indication of the increased morbidity and mortality that we can expect based on the drop in vaccination rates of MMRV. Much of this can be laid directly at the door of RFK, Jr., an unqualified irrational vaccine opponent.
New study in JAMA. Modelling shows that at current state-level vaccination rates, measles may become endemic again in the USA. If rates continue to decline, ditto for rubella, poliomyelitis and diphtheria, leading to many preventable hospitalisations and deaths.

This is a solid (to my eyes) mathematical analysis of the probable impacts of the cuts to US investment in global health. These cuts, which do not really address waste, fraud or abuse, will have devastating effects on public health over the next 15 years.
If you're wondering what the projected mortality and morbidity rates might look like in a future defunded of US investment in science and health, here's a preprint article of some very sobering findings.

The truth is heavy. That’s why it matters. ⬇️

One of the key tenets of science is “the data are the data”. Meaning that, subject to a critical analysis of the methodology, the data reflect what is actually occurring and should be allowed to direct scientific inquiry, and subsequently, public policy.

This study shows that science and scientists remain trusted. To address the problems facing us today, it is necessary for responsible scientists to be more willing to raise our voices and explain based on our expertise.

In my opinion, RFK Jr.’s promotion of invalid fringe theories about the Texas measles outbreak is intellectual malpractice. It is also certain to cause more suffering and statistically likely to cause more deaths.
"Mr. Kennedy’s focus on unverified treatments has frustrated some doctors in Gaines County, who have been trying to explain to patients that there is no antiviral for measles and that they have little control over which patients suffer serious symptoms..."
