COVID-19 has revealed that much of the US public is willing to accept mass death and abandonment. We were pushed by propaganda to see many around us as disposable. That helped set the tone for current fascist violations. I wrote about it for @prismreports.org.

The COVID-19 pandemic should have shown us that we’re supposed to be meeting needs, not falling in line behind fascist incursions

Some people are attempting to make their compliance with fascism into something it's certainly not. For @prismreports.org, I wrote about how the promotion of obedience, hiding, and disengagement is taking us backward, despite attempts to make it seem reasonable. prismreports.org/2025/08/21/o...
Another way out: Hiding and obedience won't stop fascism
By being obedient to the point of giving up all self-determination, we’re poised to return to what many before us fought to overturn

People are still doing this nonsense! bsky.app/profile/will...

How did so many people attach to this idea that if Black people take to the streets, that's how the state will suspend normative law and deepen overt fascism? The state doesn't need Black people protesting or any alleged excuse for that matter to do what's already happening in plain sight.
williamcson.bsky.social
Keep in mind that many people who initially claimed he wanted protests so he could militarily occupy cities quietly adjusted that narrative without admitting he did what he wanted, regardless. No “excuse” was necessary. Fascists don't need a reason or excuse.
mskellymhayes.bsky.social
Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.

Are you starting to get it? He was always going to hit us. You will not change the math by insisting that people assume some magical form of perfect victimhood that somehow reels in a monster. That's not real. And I am so sick of hearing it.

He was always going to do this. Chicagoans have not rioted, so the administration just lied and said we have. We have not attacked ICE agents, so they just lied and said we did. There was no chaos here, so they created chaotic scenes by attacking people and filmed that shit.

"The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic was a litmus test people in the U.S. failed miserably, and we’re all still reeling from it. The results revealed to the ruling powers just how much they could get away with."

YES!!!!!!! you cannot leave your community behind and then be confused when you get lost

Migration, non-citizen status, and deportation are a big part of Black America's history, going beyond US borders. Still, nativism and xenophobia distort and derail. Let's deepen our understanding of what history tells us. I wrote about this for @prismreports.org.

what kind of orgs or group formations do we each have the capacity to be a part of that centres our values while also upholding them within those group formations? everything we want to see in the world has to be built from the ground up, every day of our lives in a sense.
williamcson.bsky.social
The empty left-influencer rhetoric instructing people to “join an organization” is deeply misleading. What kind of org and why? The word “organization” isn't inherently left. There are fascist organizations. Don't just say uncritical stuff that doesn't truly help for the sake of saying something.

Legal forms of resistance and litigation strategies aren't the only ways to fight. Thinking so misrepresents the past and weakens the present. It also reveals a strong naivete about the supposed objectivity of oppressive laws. I wrote about it for @prismreports.org. prismreports.org/2025/04/29/t...

Many people struggle to understand the law, and criminalization is often not in their favor. You can emphasize constitutionality and the law, but those things can be voided, amended, or disregarded overnight. If you have principles and values, you must stand on them, not on crumbling foundations.
williamcson.bsky.social
If you think you're helping by screaming someone doesn't deserve something because they're “not a criminal,” you're absolutely not. The state will deem you and that person both criminals under the established and whatever expanded terms you're upholding by legitimizing criminality as a construct.
