Endurance sports coach, happiest when outside! Be curious!
Want to feel like your professional skills have tanked? Reviewing an old presentation as I get ready for a new one, my 13 year old son starts reading the old titles of the old slides. I had no idea how ridiculous that they could sound! 😆#Humbling 😂

Trail run at lunch today. Had to just stop here for 5 or so minutes. Just wanted to listen and watch.

As a cycling fan, and American, Powless winning Dwars door Vlaanderen today is cool as heck. Great win! But ooph, Visma as a team, 3 v 1, in the finale... that's a tough loss after a GREAT ride by them.

AHHHHHHH. As the parent of a kiddo who is a cancer survivor, annual MRI day creates a stout case of "scanxiety" every year - regardless of how well he's doing. But, here we are, year 12 and he's got a clean scan. Whoooo whoooo!!!! YEAH!!!

Giving infectious disease research a break, as promised by the MAHA agenda.

Let's break down what exactly this Executive Order is *really* saying.

Fortunately, I speak fluent anti-vax grifterese & can translate.

I shared this paper with some athletes I work with and got the greatest reply ever regarding the use of float tanks for recovery: "I did a float session once. I got salt [water] in my eyes and it ruined the relaxation experience 100%" 😂https://bmjopensem.bmj.com/content/10/4/e002292

There are a lot of good ways to foster recovery from training. Sleep, rest, good health and nutrition, etc are all the "big rocks". Naps and float/sensory deprivation tank may similarly impact HRV. Naps are free. If a float is fun, great. Naps are awesome! bmjopensem.bmj.com/content/10/4...
Comparison of 1-hour floatation-REST versus conventional napping on heart rate variability in active individuals
Objectives This study aimed to investigate the short-term effects of a 1-hour floatation-resting environmental therapy (FLO) versus conventional napping (NAP) on heart rate variability (HRV) in highly...

Excellent and short thread to keep in mind if you or athletes you work with have pondered wearing a CGM!
Ok, as promised, Let's do a short 🧵 on glucose monitoring in athletes without diabetes. It's for all y'all who have been buying these monitors and then coming in to see us, freaking out because you think you are diabetic. Check out this data from Marliss et al. (1990). Yes, *1990*. (1/4)

America is unwell. Focusing on improving health is a good thing. But it's not going to come from seed oils, beef tallow, backtracking on vaccines, or countless other grifts and grifters.

Here's a commonsense plan to ACTUALLY make America healthy again:
How to ACTUALLY Make America Healthy Again
There is no denying American health is in trouble. Forty percent of us are obese. More than seventy percent are overweight. America ranks last among comparable countries in life expectancy. Our ...
