Of course. I just meant, other obstacles aside, it's a non starter because the one thing that might - big might - make it happen is the one thing they won't do. They get in their own way.

The only way it will work is if they say, from x date forward newborns' parents must be citizens. No deportation, no proving & approval process. Just a line in the sand. But they are so full of hate and racism they'll never agree to that.

Everyone with a forgotten 4x ggma who was Native will be trying to bank on it as birthright more than they already do. The rest of us probably don't have access to our parents' citizenship info. The $ & time spent trying to set the grandfather clause age will drag any legislation into the trash can.

I read that in 1998, freshman year at the Univ. of OK. I remember my classmates losing their minds over how greedy and wasteful the poor people were. I remember them saying it was the people's own fault. I got the point of the book but most took it way wrong. It made the situation worse, actually.

It's how they keep the supply of poorer people going. They need poor people to keep the capitalist machinery turning and the military intake going. Uneducated people have less chance to advance & are easier to manipulate. They are also more likely to become or stay religious.

This is the first time I've seen a comment like that since I moved over. Those people are why I left there. It was nice while it lasted.

You can sometimes live x amount of time overseas without having to swap. Just check it out where you intend to go.

Acrually it depends on the country there and the state for your license. I lived in Germany, where my OK license could be traded for theirs but my husband's NE and my friend's NY licenses could not. You will take a theory test regardless, to learn the rules, signs, etc. where you live.

I've lived in either Germany or UK for the last 17 years straight. I have driven a car (mine & rental) in at least 15 European countries. I've never been asked, not once, for an int'l license. Now, is that legal? Dunno. I haven't been in any wrecks, so it might be an insurance thing in an accident.

Same. No kids. No property. No investments. Even my last dog is 15 and we're not adopting any more. In what's to come, I won't have much to go on but at least I won't have the pain of losing all of that AND having nothing.

I would have been very happy to stay over there and "have discussions" and learn other perspectives. It wasn't me who spewed vitriol at strangers every chance I got, for no reason, just because.
