(Theyre all using very different flying methods!)

"Once you've seen Burton play Leamas [the novel protagonist], you're stuck with that image of Leamas, and that's how it is with stars..."

"This is not to diminish him. Rather, to diminish myself as a critic in this case."

John Le Carre discussing "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold" movie is really a great interview

Starts as the standard "Author tearing apart the film version of his book." But he's so perceptive of his own biases that he ends up being quite complimentary by the end

One thing Le Carre says that sticks with me is that making a book into a film is like "turning a cow into beef bullion."

It SOUNDS very dismissive of movies, of course! But it's a very pragmatic and frank description of what the job of adaptation is

Daily bunny no.3101 flying by night
A bunny catches a flight by holding both legs of a bat, who is flying across a starry night sky. Another bat follows closely behind them, and they are currently going over a small body of water.

Someone found the exact point when the bunny numbers jumped ahead by 100 a year ago…

I don’t think I’ll correct the order at this point (messes up my bookkeeping) but that means that THIS autumnal bunny is actually number 3000!

Daily bunny no.3100 is just a branch away
A bunny sits on the branch of a tree at night, sipping tea and looking at the full moon. On the moon, another small bunny is visible, also drinking tea while looking back at the bunny on the tree branch

Daily bunny no.3099 is waiting for a turn
Two bunnies are having a sleepover, and are playing videogames on their tv late at night. They have sleeping bags. A cat watches the game intently, and a small bunny (their little sister) is flopped over the television, distracting the two gamer bunnies

I usually assume most internet slang comes from... well, the internet. memes from forums and such.

So it's funny to me that gamers still occasionally use the term "tilt" or "tilted" to mean "frustrated" or off their game. It's an old pinball term

(comic is Will Eisner's "The Spirit", 1949)
An old-timey comic, the spirit, in which the protagonist is frustrated at losing a game of pinball. He hits the pinball machine and yells "tilt!" along with an expletive.

Daily bunny no.3098 brings the snacks
A bunny is in a dark dungeon, on one side of a bolted wooden door. On the other side of the door, seen through a barred window in the door, a giant, amorphous monster is visible, with green tentacles and a giant eyeball. The bunny has brought a bucket of fish for the creature to eat.

Daily bunny no.3097 has a strange, new-fangled contraption
A bunny in a small balloon floats through the sky. To their confusion, a bunny in a remote-controlled quadcopter pulls up next to them, with the remote in their paws. They are far above a mountainous area

My cat was just licking my face, and I briefly but surely saw a computer screen in her eye.

Took me several minutes of conspiracy theorizing before I figured out it was my own laptop screen twice-reflected off of my glasses, then into her eye, and then back to my eye

Daily bunny no.3096 saw it move
A small bunny with a red scarf walks past two large topiaries in an outdoor, snowy scene near a hotel. The topiaries look like predatory animals: A lion and a wolf, and rear up at the bunny ominously. Although this resembles a scene from the book "The Shining", it is unclear whether the topiaries are actually alive or not.

Daily bunny no.3095 must choose the right path
A bunny stands in a small, square room surrounded by doors: Not Just on the walls, but also on the floor and ceiling, at odd angles. All the doors are different shapes, some new and some old-fashioned, and one is a dryer. The bunny holds a golden key in his hand, wondering which door to try.

Oof. Corrected by one of literatures foremost baby raccoons

generally, raccoons prefer not to eat trash and are not that interested in breaking the law so much as living their lives and having fun

Daily bunny no.3094 has been caught red-handed
A bunny helps two raccoons drag a trashbag away. The bunny has a black mask, like an old-timey burglar in a film. It is the dead of night on a grimy city street. A light shines on the three of them, from a flashlight or spotlight, surprising them all. The bunny and raccoon put their hands up: They've been caught!

True 😔 they can leave the Village, but can a bunny EVER truly be free??

Daily bunny no.3093 will not be stamped, filed or numbered!
Bunnies enact a scene from "The Prisoner", which one as an intimidating "Number Two" sitting in a cushy chair, holding an umbrella behind a futuristic control panel. The other bunny points at him as if offering a challenge, and a small dwarf rabbit offers tea. They are in the middle of a purple, spherical room.

Daily bunny no.3092 must seek an alternate route
A crowd of bunnies watches a parade go by, with an elephant and several horn players. Many of the bunnies are watching intently, but two in a car are frustrated that the street has been cordoned off.

Daily bunny no.3091 was a little overdue
A bunny in a mysterious-looking reading room watches as a book flies away, flapping its pages like a bird. The room is full of books on shelves, but only the 'flying' books has strange, eldritch markings on it, and a large yellow eye on the cover.

Almost Home - this month’s riso print to ring in the fall.

Not sure how to describe it, but this time of year always feels like I’m almost “home” so I wanted to come up with something that touches on that feeling a little

From “The Tailor of Panama”

Additional context: Pendel is an ex-convict trying to hide his past and make it as a fine tailor. Both men are British expatriates living in Panama…
willquinnart.bsky.social
My favorite description of English accents comes from John Le Carre (a pseudonym; he’s English, of course.)

“To an Osnard, Pendel’s origins were as unmistakable as his aspirations to escape them”

… like. To Americans, that sounds like a fantasy setting. Just bonkers.
