Thank you. It’s very close to the signature for Donald McGill (the McG bit anyway), but the first part of the signature doesn’t seem to match with anything.

It’s absolutely fine, half the fun in uncovering history is the search for the truth. It’s a bit like repairing or restoring images, there’s nothing quite like finding out the stories.

It’s possible that it was another serviceman who was just really good at drawing (the date and signature make me think perhaps not) But it would be nice to find out something definitive for them and their family.

I can’t find anything that says either way. All I know is my clients father kept it in a tube until he decided to glue it to a board and then hang it in his shed which led to its rather rapid decline.

There’s a few that look similar from Punch magazine but none of the signatures seem to match up. It’s a bit “needle in haystack” but it’s a very interesting piece with a lot of its history missing. If it comes to you, please let me know. Many thanks.
