If you are still looking for a "stocking filler" please bear in mind that "The Anechoic Chamber" is a slimline A-format paperback, so it fits snugly in a standard men's sock or the pocket of a winter coat. This also means savings on wrapping paper, postage, etc. and it's only £9.99.

It's amusing (to me, an ageing nerd) how much this resembles the "twined" way artists like Sal Buscema and Todd Macfarlane drew Spider-Man's webslinging back in the 1990s (and possibly other artists before and since but the early 1990s was when I was paying attention)

Felt compelled to draw him. Something about the legs/feet.

Grim and stupid times, but "Amid surge in bear attacks" is a simply unbeatable way to start any headline. "Amid surge in bear attacks, BoE holds steady on interest rates." "Amid surge in bear attacks, JWST sheds light on distant nebula."

Coincidentally, advance reading copies of "The Dead Man's Empire" have just arrived in my inbox, and this is the highly appropriate epigraph. So, join us for some festivals of atonement and sacred games!

I don't think it has a moustache ... The chemistry paraphernalia was what made me think Snow. But now I wonder if it might be a not-very-good likeness of Clarke.

American friends: Barnes & Noble is having another pre-order sale on forthcoming books including "The Dead Man's Empire", sequel to the award-winning "The Last Blade Priest". But you must act today, because I have been very lazy about sharing this information!

I see they're finished with pretence and euphemism and it's safe for the mask-off atavistic fear and loathing to be shelved on the same level as the Beano

Current UK political discourse made me wonder: what flags do I have in the house? Not counting Lego, this is what I was able to find: the pirate flag we have flying in our garden and a little UN flag from the 50th anniversary celebrations in 1995 (almost an antique). Pretty solid.

Although I appreciate that's not actually SF, as you asked - the most desirable first edition in SF is Dune I think, just look at it, gorgeous

Not a first edition but if money was no object I'd want a full set of LOTR with Barbara Remington's covers.

Thank you, you're very kind! Oddly enough I'm in Aldgate right now, a stone's throw from "Jen". Of my other books, "Plume" has most in common with "Deeds"; "Deeds" is also in "The Anechoic Chamber" with some other weird tales of mine.
