Just saw this screenless audio player for younger kids called Yoto advertised on the telly. Umm, I wondered, what's the best-selling album on it, for, y'know, the little 'uns?

Found this while digging around for a random game for Saturday. I don't have many signed things but some Tron light cycles signed by Syd Mead will do for starters.

Extremely random (for me) #randomgamesaturday.

Let my AT field down for today's #randomgamesaturday Raise your own Angel, Tamagotchi-style-ish and then send it into battle.

Well, this was a very nice surprise to get this morning.

One of my fave SFC sprites from Super Back To The Future - Part II. I've always thought how epic this could have been if it had gotten the golden-era Konami 16bit treatment with levels set across all three movies.

I'm not all that sold on the cover for today's #randomgamesaturday but the game itself is a banger.

Still got my issue from all those years ago. What a run.

Happy Space 1999 Breakaway Day. 50 years since it was, er... 1999, or 1975 and the moon was blasted out of earth's orbit. Only this Eagle survived.

Only seemed right for a (reasonably) #randomgamesaturday

Remastered Space Firebird in this afternoon's Direct. If it doesn't happen, you didn't see this.

I can’t believe you’re dissing Heyy, It’s The King.

Not sure where I found this, but it made me smile.

Absolutely, my era of X-Men. The anticipation for each issue was more than any TV show or movie at that time. The trouble was that not all issues appeared in my local newsagents, so I had to try and organise trips to London to grab US issues. The high watermark of my time as a Marvel fan.

Cool! It's a Next Gen Vertibird! There was a TOS Enterprise one in the '70s (along with other TV spaceships like the Space 1999 Eagle and a Battlestar Viper.

Not really feeling this box art, either. I'd love to see more stuff that's got design integrated with the art. Render + logo rarely does it for me, nowadays.

Lots of chat around the lovely VB this week so today's not so random game is...

Agreed. I did go a bit mad over it when I got to go to Tokyo in '99.

Remembering playing Pilotwings in Japanese, not having a clue what the instructors were saying to me and having the shock of realising that it was all setting me up for a final military rescue mission. Was there ever a clue to that in the English-language version?

This afternoon's 'in the background' watch is ITV's 1976 children's drama The Feathered Serpent. Good luck getting a wordy kid's drama about Aztecs, human sacrifice and the like made in 2025. I can't imagine it was an easy pitch, even then. Also, Diane Keen 😍

This is a lovely little zine.

And, of course, in a shameless self-plug, it'd have to feature the 'new' Captain N. Prints available etc. etc.
August 11, 2025 at 5:29 PM
I've been reading though a bunch of these lately and I'm assuming that the really amazing StarFox and Zelda strips only appeared in Nintendo Power? Just what would you put in a new Nintendo Comics System anthology title and what would get the prime cover spot? And why is it Metroid ;)
