#Comics folks, I need you to pull up to this one.

The world sucks right now, and we have the opportunity to do a little bit of good for a displaced and marginalized member of our community. Please join me in supporting this KS campaign!

If you're somebody who values supporting marginalized voices in comics, here's your chance to put your money where your values are!

The writer of this RINGO NOM’D INDIE COMIC (and a very dear friend of mine) is a Syrian Refugee who has been through more continuous hardships than I have space to list here; constantly navigating visa applications, unstable living conditions, predatory landlords (limited options as a refugee).

Anas just wants to make comics and live a normal life like what so many of us take for granted. Backing this campaign will help Anas to take the next step toward freedom and autonomy, helping to fund a move to another country with more stable employment options. This is truly one of the most important comics purchases you will ever make.

Middle Eastern and North African comics creators are some of the most underrepresented in the comics industry of the western world. Anas isn’t running a GoFundMe to support this move, and is not asking for charity. Simply, Anas is using their talent for storytelling, along with Dennis’ gorgeous art, to offer you a beautiful experience in the comics medium, that also goes toward funding a better life for Anas.

I’m so proud of Anas, and humbled by their experiences and perseverance. I would like to see Anas’ Dream realized, and I’d love to see this community help to make that happen. Please join me in pledging to the Etheres Kickstarter campaign! (link below). Etheres cover B

Trans rights are civil rights. If you aren't willing to die on the hill of trans rights, then you aren't willing to die on the hill of Black rights. Of Jewish rights. Of disabled rights. Of gay rights. Of anyone's rights. Human rights.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

Hold up... the Palisades fire was started by a Florida Man?

It's telling that he stopped talking to you when you were just talking about basic human rights and decency. I continue to believe that police depts are essentially cults.

I'm taking the night off from spooky movies. Back on it tomorrow.

This is what "Defund The Police" was and is about btw.

When the nazis were coming into power, there was a lag before local law enforcement was fully on board. People were able to get police protection from nazi-aligned paramilitaries. Here, today, police look at rising fascism and say “Finally. We’ve been waiting for this.” www.notus.org/democrats/me...
Democrats' New Fear: They Can’t Rely on Local Law Enforcement for Protection
“They called the local sheriff; they showed up and were going to arrest me,” said Rep. Steven Horsford.

The voting age should be lowered too.

It's the first morning where it's very noticeable that it's not as light out when my alarm goes off.

Sam Jaffe always understood the assignment.
Still of Sam Jaffe looking out of frame in horror and concern. He is an older white man with gray hair and a beard. His hair stands straight up like he stuck his finger in an electrical socket.

Ok the use of flashing color in this tentacle attack is pretty cool. But why does the monster strip her?
wilsonmj.bsky.social
This woman just decked this old man and it's the most action this movie has had.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
I don't like this movie. It's almost campy enough to enjoy, but it's missing something. The Corman Edgar Allen Poe movies nail this tone better.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
This section where the screen has a "canvas" or "burlap sack" texture is interesting but distracting.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
70s cinema was so specifically 1970s. Like in tone and writing and everything. The 80s had this too, though in a slightly different way.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
This movie suffers form what I'd call "high brow" disease. It's trying too hard to be serious in tone and style in a way that just reads as pretentious and one note. But then again... it is a Lovecraft adaptation.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
Dean is delivering all of his lines in a monotone "sad boi" cadence that is really annoying.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
Dean Stockwell looks like this in this movie.
Still of Dean Stockwell in The Dunwich Horror (1970). He is a white man in his 30s. He has fluffy light brown hair and a very obviously fake mustache and sideburns.
wilsonmj.bsky.social
Up next... The Dunwich Horror (1970). It has Dean Stockwell and Sandra Dee. And seems to have been an attempt to make an American Giallo. I can't stand Lovecraft, but let's do this.
Movie poster for The Dunwich Horror (1970). A woman is attacked by a monstrous face that has snake-like creatures for hair.

People continue to prove the allegations.

I had a dream about trying to put cards into card holders and fumbling endlessly. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

You could just talk about Jim Crow. I promise you, there's no need to leave America's shores to talk about life in a fascist state
motherjones.com
Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.
