But Gollum did not know about potatoes, meaning they had reached Middle-earth in the 500 years since he took refuge beneath the mountains. In this essay I will
When the camera pans over the refugees gathered in Helm's Deep, they have bushel baskets full of potatoes with them, so it's not just the hobbits who know about taters.

The main character failing in writing Gollum is that he would have had both a great love of, and deep familiarity with, every fungus in the Misty Mountains and could likely have kept them fed even in the blasted lands, thereby. Mushrooms would NOT have recently arrived, being older.

For St. Stephen's Day, let's revisit the Laudian Acts,
Bodleian Library MS. Laud Gr. 35, a parallel Latin-Greek copy of Acts late 5th/early 6c. Italy, possibly Sardinia. It was at Wearmouth-Jarrow by the early 8c, where it was used by Bede. Here is Acts 6:5, the calling of Stephen. 🕯️

Blessed St Stephen's Day! There is a calmness in the chilly air today. Commercial Christmas is finally over, going on since Nov 1, all the holiday decor and music is gone from stores, with the shelves being prepped for Valentine's Day, and people asking you if you had a good Christmas instead of 1/2

All I didn't want for Christmas was a migraine, a panic attack, and a trip to the ER. But my mind now has a spaciousness it hasn't had in a long time. Let's hope I'll be able to celebrate the 12 Days of Christmastide (or the remaining 40 Days of Christmas, according to the old liturgical calendar)!

"Guided by a magnificent star, the shepherds traveled a great distance"

Huh? What?

The angels didn't follow the star (that was the Wise Men in Matthew's Gospel), nor did they travel a great distance -- they were "in that region living in the fields" (Luke 2.8)

Was this written by AI or something?

Oh, woe! We are out of coffee! All I want for Christmas is a cup of dark roast coffee, black! I don't want a hippo, just a coffee! 😭☕

"A Greener Path" 12x16 inches, oils on copper panel. A painting about taking your time to notice the small things, staying calm, and remembering that progress takes patience. 🌼

The 25 of December is when the "Twelve Days of Christmas" actually begin, known as Christmastide.
And there are theories that "the partridge in a pear tree" started as a magpie in a pear tree as it was a motiff in older popular songs. 🐦🎄

Happy Holidays!!

The digitization includes very clear images of the cover, the oldest extant European binding (though Coptic in style). Note the scale: smaller than any current iPhone.

I also understand why Mary takes a day to abstain from all conversation after the birth of Jesus in the Qur'an.
The confusion and fogginess of waking up from a two-day migraine and then having to jump right back into a noisy and sunny and busy world, especially two days before Christmas, and not being able to easily get back into its rhythm after darkness and silence and sleep, is what Lazarus must have felt.

Another inaccuracy: Catholic priest helps guy stop drinking instead of offering to drink with him.

Also not accurate for a Catholic priest to be uncomfortable in the presence of human remains. Like we line up to see Thomas Aquinas' preserved head.
