Probably. Some monastics (like the boskoi or grazers) traveled with the antelope herds and grazed on grasses alongside them, while others ate no cultivated crops, or what was eaten in Eden before the Fall (hence, no meat), or the vegetables and water diet of Daniel and his companions (Dan. 1.12).

From my Catholic perspective, neither. Ordinary Time doesn't begin until after the Baptism of the Lord (thus, gold liturgical colors until the Baptism). Or from a more medieval perspective, Christmastide lasts until Candlemass, this year giving us 2 weeks of Ordinary Time before Lent.
