We didn’t ride today because of the high winds, but we did fix loads of bikes at @theswanclewer.bsky.social. Plus we flew the local cycling flag by attending events at Dedworth Medical & Braywick Nature Centres.

Despite the sun right now, the wind is still forecast to hit 45mph+. Definitely not conducive to staying on a bike! 👇

This week we helped 6th #Windsor #Brownies earn their mechanics badges. It’s great showing youngsters how to take care of their bikes (it’s good to show grown-ups too). Got a children’s group in Windsor that want to know more about bikes? Drop us a line at [email protected]

That’s a VERY short ride, but fair play.

Happy #BicycleBirthday, H.G. Wells!
September 21 (1866-1946)

Wells is shown here getting ready to ride a Humber "lady-front" tandem with wife Amy Catherine Robbins Wells.
Photo of a woman and a man with a tandem bicycle. The woman, H.G. Wells' wife Amy Catherine Robbins Wells, is seated in the front position, and the man, H.G. Wells, is standing at the rear. It looks like he's adjusting something. They're on a street in front of what appears to be a greenhouse. The bike is a Humber "lady-front" tandem.

Some bonus shots from today’s ride.
A nice new bike always makes hills seem easier Oh dear, a broken seat post - hopefully our Bike Kitchen can sort that. Fortunately, he was close to home It’s just perspective & a hill! The last empanada of 2025!

Making the most of the OK weather, our Level 3 ride took in Windsor Great Park & Englefield Green. We stopped at Clara’s cafe to grab our last coffee & empanadas of the year. Next week it’s a Level 4 to Burnham Beeches.

Quite likely that tomorrow’s Level 3 Guided Ride to WGP will drop in. Would be rude not to! Book your place today: bit.ly/3L2XCUa

Just down the road at #Windsor’s #ClarenceMedicalCentre (GP surgery) there are 2 wall mounted ‘wheel benders’. Quite hard to secure a bike, make that 2 bikes, but that’s it.
2 bikes fixed sideways to 2 wall mounted ‘wheel bender’ racks. Please note: we can’t secure bikes to them by putting the front wheel in - plus it bends them!
windsorcyclehub.bsky.social
How to tell if you’ve got adequate bike parking? 1. Check if your visitors (in this case patients) use it, or lockup elsewhere. 2. Ask us to survey & make recommendations.

This is #KingEdwardVII #hospital in #Windsor. If more people cycled, we’d put less strain on the NHS.
An empty ‘wheel bender’ bike rack - you can’t secure a bike to these. Plus they bend skinny wheels & aren’t big enough for many bikes The 3 bikes here are all locked to uncovered infrastructure - possibly not intended for bike locking
