You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

😆 We know Pavlova and Phar Lap come from New Zealand.
Now you want our pōhutukawa as well?
Btw we gift you Russell Crowe and Joh Bjelke-Petersen. Have them, you're welcome.
As for pōhutukawa I'll screen shot it here what I just posted from Google.

That's an old favorite. Sadly not so much on my approved diet plan anymore. But dinner and desert in one nevertheless.
Meanwhile I shared a plate of Nachos with the Missus.

I have to agree with you Kiwi 100% I'm a bit of a Dr. Dolittle myself. As you know we don't have squirrels in NZ.
My day begins by feeding my granddaughters rabbit and 2 cats left with me.
The cats don't even bother the birds
They gather at the back door waiting for me every morning. 😹😹🐇 🐦

Tui are native to New Zealand and are predominantly nectar feeders. Mid winter they appreciate a little sweet water to see them through when flowers are scarce.

I heard a loud thud from the kitchen. Outside on the deck a fledgling Tui lay knocked out cold so I place it on the kitchen window sill where it sat contemplating what had just happened and probably wondering why the stars were out during daylight hours.
20 minutes later it stretched and flew
away😇

I came across a healthy grove of Nikau Palm providing food and habitat for native birds. The Nikau Palm has a significant cultural and emotional attachment to the Maori people of New Zealand.
For youngsters the dried base of the frond makes an excellent downhill toboggan on grassy slopes😃

Bertie a famous pet Sulphur-crested Cockatoo known for spending her days in a Pohutukawa tree. She is a local celebrity who greets passersby with a "hello" and whistles. Bertie enjoys climbing and spending time in her tree during the day, occasionally needing rescue if she gets stuck.

On my cycle ride today I came across New Zealands official Christmas tree all lit up and ready for the coming festive season.
A blooming Pohutukawa tree.

While it's parents give us the glad eye their quivering fledgling puffs up and chirps as if to say hurry up and feed me.

From here I'm gonna guess it's a climbing rose called iceberg. A great choice for a garden arch. Lightly fragrant and repeat flowering.
