That’s Trump‘s superpower. He promises
a lot of incoherent bullshit, some of which is close to what some people want, and those people hear that as a promise and ignore all the other incoherent bullshit. Everyone hears a different promise, and they are surprised when he does some bullshit instead.

Just block the haters. It’s what everyone else does.

A fair point. I should have said “impeachment and removal.”

This. I enjoyed both Avatar movies quite a bit. They were decent stories backed up by terrific spectacle. And during all the years in between, I never once found myself wondering what happened next or wanting to learn more about those characters or their world.

Hey, doing something effective--such as gathering intelligence about drug smuggling operations and then sending special forces and drones to interdict them--is hard work. Blowing up undefended boats on the open sea is easy. This principle explains a lot law enforcement activity, especially lately.

I remember when my 80-something year old father had to go on oxygen, it freaked me out. My dad has to breathe rocket fuel! I knew medically it’s a life supporting gas, but that was not how I had come to think of it.

The thing is, “poppers” was a legitimate theory at first. The first few AIDS cases were discovered only in gay men, so a cause with a cultural link seemed plausible. That changed once more cases emerged and HIV was discovered. Why RFK Jr still believes it is a mystery to me.

I don’t know if the boat strikes are like that, or if the trigger pullers have enough information to know better.

If you’re an artillery commander, you just get requests to bombard map locations that are miles away. It’s up to the people sending the requests to ensure that your ordinance falls on enemy combatants rather than fleeing civilians. You aren’t committing a war crime if they make an illegal choice.

I’m not sure the people at the very end of the kill chain would have known enough about the context to judge the legality of the order. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, but trusting command to have their facts straight is. It would probably be a case-by-case investigation.

Fortran? Did you say Fortran???

Is Astronomy one of those sciences that is locked-in to Fortran because you all have millions of lines of perfectly good working code?
