I've made it a point to tell everyone I know about loons over the past two weeks. "You don't understand, we're like, OBSESSED with our state bird! Like, really obsessed!!" So, they're at least getting a preview.

There is a real sense of civic duty here that I didn't know was anything special until I lived elsewhere. And there's actual data to support that too, ex., we have the highest voter turnout in the country (at the state level ofc)!

Of course, because DHS is now staffed by neo-Nazi bigots, they assume that by noting that the fellow spoke Spanish and is merely a 'naturalized' citizen, people will be like, "oh, yeah, that's a person it is OK to terrorize" but, uh, no, in fact.
