@michaelhobbes.bsky.social services I know you’re done with RFK Jr coverage but this is pretty cursed!

Ugh, I remember getting to the end of this game as a kid only to discover I missed picking up a crucial item, rendering it impossible to win!

Then there were the occasional universities and colleges that didn’t pay for the official MLA hotels, and you had to travel to some random nearby hotel for your interview. I still remember having to call up to the committees from the lobby phone to figure out what room they were in.

B doesn’t sound very clean and would conflate flavors in unfortunate ways

Back when I was in college in the late ‘90s - early ‘00s I double-majored in English and Computer Science. Even back then at a small liberal arts college everyone — even professors — asked me, but how do those 2 things go together?

@matthewremski.bsky.social - I recognize many of these names from your podcast and QAA!

Really enjoyed this. Pete was one of my old Bowdoin professors.

Yes I agree with you. Honestly I was surprised that I couldn’t find any mention of Mamdani in any Bowdoin communications — they for whatever reason stopped sending me the Bowdoin Magazine years ago (because I never send in money, who knows?) but I was dismayed his campaign didn’t get a feature.

Thanks so much for sharing! Glad alumni are showing up in the comments. One of my classmates commented that Bowdoin can’t afford to look partisan, but regardless there are so many more ways they could have framed this.

Dang I killed my IG account. But as a Bowdoin grad, myself, I wouldn’t mind a cathartic read of scathing alumni comments.

The RFK Jr. version of health, where health creates health and healthy people don't get sick and the thing that keeps you healthy is /living the right way/ is very seductive to a lot of people. It also places the burden of illness back on the ill, which decreases the value of human life.
