I love wooly crafts - spinning, knitting, crochet - and music. I like to go to gigs, we play pen and paper RPGs with our friends and sometimes I get obsessed with video games (BG3!). My kids’ friends think that’s weird ;) weird is good!

First of two shawls I’m #weaving on the #louetdavid 3. After hemstitching I’ve started the second one, different weft yarn. I’m loving the loom so far!

Oh well. I did it. Had to get myself a new to me #weaving loom - I’m putting a first warp on the #louet David 3; I’m hoping I’ll manage to set everything up ok with the video they provide about adjusting the harnesses, where to fiddle if things aren’t aligned properly. Wish me luck.

I’m home sick with a flu-like virus; feeling a bit better, so I’ve got the energy for some knitting with my #handspun Shetland wool. I’m liking the pattern, knitting a larger size shawl than the original Autumn Leaves shawl though. 6mm needles, 8-9 wpi 🧶. Almost halfway done.

Weaving project no. 2 finished. #handspunyarn for weft and accent yarns in the warp. For a friend’s birthday. 🧶 slightly wavy at the edges due to different shrinkage while wet finishing. The purple has recycled sari silk in it and didn’t draw in as much while fulling the cloth. Still happy with it.

First step done. I’ll wind the warp on the loom after our dancing class later today. Mix of handdyed sport weight merino/silk/linen yarn plus two handspun yarns. 🧶

Weekend morning #spinning. Listening to BBC radio 6, they’re playing an old Kate Budh song no other radio station would probably ever dig out. The sun is shining. Birds are singing outside where it’s a bit chilly still, but it’s promising to be a mild day. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

This is the yarn I had on my Suzie’s lace flyer: Polwarth mixed with Tussah silk; together 168g/approx. 1300m - it’s unbelievably squishy soft!!! I’m definitely thinking a soft shawl with a finer sett. maybe the bolder colours (left) for the warp.

#spinning for my next #weaving project. The colours are a bit off because I can’t ever remember to take pictures in daylight. I’ve decided to add a bit of fun with some wool mixed with sari silk yarn. Warp will mostly be a nice hand dyed sport weight (magenta shades of pink). With some fun bits.

Early morning #knitting for a change. I’ve reached the border pattern of my not all that soft Sobriquet asymmetrical shawl knit from robust #handspunyarn. This will hopefully be my next FO. Keeping my fingers crossed it’ll block out to a good size. 🧶

Taking it off the loom - I’ve decided I want to be safe rather than sorry, so I’m putting in fringe knots to secure the back end before unwinding the length.
Any tips for mistakes to avoid when wet finishing??

Yesterday I was lucky enough to notice someone was selling an Ashford spinning wheel 30 minutes away from me. For only 75€ I picked up this old but functional Traveller. Improvised a drive band and bobbin brake with sock yarn, polished and oiled her up a bit. 😊 Chuffed to bits!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to notice someone was selling an Ashford spinning wheel 30 minutes away from me. For only 75€ I picked up this old but functional Traveller. Improvised a drive band and bobbin brake with sock yarn, polished and oiled her up a bit. 😊 Chuffed to bits!
I’m getting towards the end of my warp! I will probably finish the rest later, cut off and fringe/wet finish tomorrow. #weaving #handspunyarn #spinning 🧶

Progress shot my weaving project with handspun Corriedale yarn. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’ll fluff up enough in the wet finish; but the math of the yarn wpi did come up with a 20/10 reed, so I’m hoping I’ll be ok. I do want drape, so a bit on the loose side should be fine. 🧶
