Let’s clear something up here, twenty years ago, we didn’t have the same level of knowledge or diagnostic criteria for conditions like autism and ADHD. That doesn’t mean they didn’t exist—it means people went undiagnosed or were mislabeled as ‘difficult’ or ‘problematic.’
