Cross-country skiing in Rocky Mountain NP! As a kid, I used to downhill ski all the time in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and cross-country on occasion at the Kettle Morain but really haven't anywhere else. I'd love to ski in the actual mountains 🗻

Our most treasured National Park ornament is one we picked up from Yosemite after climbing Half Dome. This was back in 2022 during our honeymoon. Still one of the coolest adventures we've been on!

We haven't spent Christmas at a National Park, but we spent a few days after Christmas exploring snow covered Yellowstone!

We've been to Badlands twice (January 2021 and again in August 2024) and explored with our two dogs. If you're wondering what it's like visiting Badlands with dogs, check out our article!

A11 The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's the most visited National Park in the US so the Hall of Fame would get a lot of foot traffic.

You'd also get a mix of different kinds of visitors: experienced hikers, families and people on road trips.

A10 Great Sand Dunes is one that really surprised us by the contrast between the sand, snow capped mountains, and the freezing water of the Medano Creek. Plus it was just fun to sandboard down!

We'll be visiting again in 2026!

A8 I think Yellowstone would be a good option. It has a lot of elements people might think of when they imagine America's National Parks (canyons, bison, geysers, hot springs).

A7 No, not really. We will drive up north to visit my family over the holidays and New Year's. It will primarily be about spending time with family and relaxing.

A4 Probably some kind of city or city park. But we'd prefer meteor showers or auroras moreso while out in the nature 🌲

We have our entire route planned for our upcoming summer road trip and plan to stop off 5 #NationalParks!

Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Great Sand Dunes, Wind Cave and Mesa Verde.

We are most excited for Grand Teton! ⛰️

Grand Teton! It's the mountains that we want to experience there ⛰️ Maybe even spend some time along the lakes.

We had plans to visit this year, but we had to cancel our plans due to an unfortunate set of circumstances.

But we know where we'll be visiting in 2026!

We’ve always cared 💚 I grew up camping all over Wisconsin, but the moment I really understood was watching the sunrise in Badlands National Park. I didn’t know what the landscape would look like, & seeing it slowly light up made me realize just how special our public lands really are

Not a single moment, but we always notice when hikers quietly pick up trash someone else left behind. Those tiny moments make us feel like so many of us really do care 💚

For us, it starts with protecting the land itself. Wide-open spaces only stay wild if we keep them whole and free from things like drilling, mining, killing wildlife, and polluting streams and lakes 🌲

Remote areas to us mean places that take more effort to get to - which means fewer people there. My mind goes first to roads (gravel, snow, mountainous).

We visited Olympic last year and, during our last night in the park, we stayed up at Hurricane Ridge well past sunset.

An astronomy group had set up a telescope and were kind enough to let us view the moon up close 🌕

Climbing Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. Standing up there, seeing how far the park extends, and realizing how small we are. Almost like ants! 🐜

There are a few sounds that bring us into "Park Mode" like others have said such as water & wind 🍃

For us, it's the sound of gravel crunching under our shoes and our carabiners jingling on our backpacks 🎒

We love escaping crowds when visiting #NationalParks. But sharing the hike or view with others who are also excited to be there (and are being respectful) can be a plus!
