I had always been under the impression that Poppy Hill was a “lesser” Ghibli.

I finally watched it and thought it had some nuanced things to say and an interesting plot structure.

Thanks for asking! We Do Not Part is marketed as literary fiction and that’s not wrong but the novel is also not not fantastical.

The Fellman novel is full on SF&F and is beautifully written and realized.

Both are emotionally tough reads. But worth it, imo.

A recurring “AI” evangelist tactic is using it for tasks that were already solved by tech that is more deterministic, faster, and uses less energy, but has been downgraded or de-emphasised in recent years by software companies
