Male wolfdog, Penn, knows the only way to keep all his food to himself is to hold onto it! Over the years, the local ravens have learned which wolves to test and which to avoid getting near, and this trio knows there is little Penn can do with a deer leg between his teeth.

Residents can report sightings of coyotes & other carnivores via Woodland Park Zoo's website carnivorespotter.org/urban-carnivore-spotter

Two years ago, American Red Wolf M2214 (Cedar) was transferred from Wolf Haven to be paired with a female at another facility. Now, we are pleased to announce that Cedar is back! He's been reunited with his mother, F1945 (Nash), and has been leaping, running, playing with abandon in his former home.

It’s Fungi Friday (just this once)! When the rain returns to the Pacific Northwest, the hidden fungi beneath the soil sprout their fruiting bodies, becoming structures we know and love as mushrooms. Here are just a few of the many species emerging in Wolf Haven's sanctuary this time of year 🍄‍🟫

We have exciting news from McCleery Ranch! Male gray wolf, Lakota, has officially moved into a shared habitat with female McCleery wolf, Mariah. Wolves are deeply social animals who thrive on companionship. It’s been heartwarming to watch these two bond and enjoy each other's company.

When a person has had their fill of a meal, they often put the rest in the refrigerator to save for later. Wolves will cache food by burying or camouflaging it to thwart scavengers and other hungry carnivores. In this video, American Red Wolf F2189 (Pika) carefully hides a deer carcass.

Recent visitors to our Tenino sanctuary have been fortunate enough to witness more frequent sightings of Mexican wolf, F1632 (Sage). While her companion, M1458 (Hodari), is known to be quite interested in sanctuary guests, Sage has always been shy and mostly choses to stay out of view.

Eight-year-old M1669 (Sirius) & 11-year-old F1361 (Sedona) are an affectionate pair who enjoy good natured play. Despite only having three legs, Sirius is agile, fast, and holds his own in a tussle!
