Yes, it will allow marginally better, but I would recommend also playing the games Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, New Super Luigi U, and Dr Luigi. Also, some playtime of mario Cart as luigi couldn't hurt.
