This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

There's an exchange during Watergate where a Nixon official is giving the lie about Rosemary Woods accidentally erasing 18 1/2 minutes from an Oval Office tape.

The reporter asks "But is that believable? Do you think people will believe that?!"

"... Uh, sure."

"HOW?"
What's striking about Trump's lies, and those of his apologists, is that they're not even plausible. They don't try to be plausible. As others have noted, that's kind of the point. True authoritarian control and power is telling a blatant and obvious lie, and showing you can get away with it.
Q: Can you explain what's going on with the bandages on Trump's hand?

LEAVITT: We've given you an explanation. The president is literally constantly shaking hands.

A national horror. A sin and a shame. We have failed our children.
i don't think this is even a real statistical anomaly anymore. it seems like there's someone in the crowd at every mass shooting who has been through it before. this doesn't have to be our shared cultural experience.

Here's Ellen Harding Baker's "Solar System" quilt.🧪

This is the story.🔭

Back in 1876, an Iowa mom with 7 kids, E. H. Baker, decided that cooking & raising children wasn’t enough for her.

She started working on a wool quilt showing the solar system.

How To Save America From An Anti-Democracy Supreme Court
"Red-teaming" the vulnerabilities of U.S. institutions has to be a top priority for the post-Trump era, whenever that begins.

If you're under the impression that water pollution is a problem that started in the 70s, you should have a look at the 1909 Report of the National Conservation Commission. Soil erosion and accompanying water pollution was a problem from the start of white settlement: bad ag practices were the norm.

A 37% drop in deep-sea animal life from a single test. If that’s the trial run, imagine the real thing.

If we destroy ecosystems for short-term gains, what future are we even mining for?
