I imagine the rules exist as a response to legitimately bad flags, but yeah, sometimes breaking rules works well. Honestly I love the Two Sicilies flag even if it's absurdly overcomplicated

In all honesty I adore that series so much, even if Fake Bad Japanese Girl comes in halfway and nearly ruins it. Every time I rewatch part of it I feel like I come home.

I always say that the films are some of the best ever made, but the books are still better. Basically all of the 'wait, huh' moments are done away with in the books.

(Just don't get hung up on Tom Bombadil; I like him a lot but he's very tonally jarring for film-only knowers)

Yeah, contact-induced change is extremely common - and often covert, in that it can look like internally-motivated development until you realise what nearby languages are doing
