What *does* defunding look like, though? Demilitarization is one part. Another could be paring down the implicit duties of LEOs, such as handing off mental health crises to unarmed, highly-trained specialists that only involve the cops when things are truly dangerous.

No, they do in fact need some defunding. Police departments swallow huge chunks of municipal budgets for nonsense like the paramilitary equipment you see, as well as salaries astronomically higher than other civil servants.

We've got to be very careful about gossip and hinting and stuff like this when there are all manner of motivations for agitators to introduce this stuff to cause infighting and despair.
