"Built to fail" is a big problem. It's hard to find things built to last because our economy is so dependent on rampant consumerism. I want everything I own to be as long lasting as the can opener I bought 30+ years ago.

My solution was also to buy an older model that was repairable and just keep it forever. I'm not there yet, though.

Funny you should mention that. I'm getting tired of all the "coddling" features in newer cars. I don't want radar cruise control. I don't want lane control. I don't want hundreds of beeps and whistles in a quick drive to the store.
