Part 1 of Rainfall Warning: 3:59 Alerts A1 From To Rainfall Warning Now • 6:00 PM ADT Friday 31 Oct 2025 Issued at: 10:35 p.m. ADT Thursday 30 October 2025 Rain, at times heavy, and strong winds are expected on Halloween. Locations: the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia from Yarmouth to Ecum Secum. Total rainfall: 50 mm, except up to 80 mm in areas of heaviest rain. Maximum wind gusts: east to southeasterly up to 70 km/h. Time span: Friday morning until Friday afternoon. Remarks: The heaviest rain will taper off to isolated showers by early Friday afternoon in the southwest and by late afternoon over Halifax County. Part 2 of rainfall warning: Strong southeasterly winds are expected to accompany the rainfall. In the afternoon, winds will ease before strengthening again in the evening from the southwest. Clear storm drains and gutters of leaves and other debris prior to the rainfall to help reduce flooding. Secure outdoor items, including Halloween decorations and garbage bins, to prevent them from being displaced or damaged by strong winds. Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Local utility outages are possible. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to rainfall amounts. Lately, when I feel overwhelmed by all the awful news, I take time to quiet my mind & heart by collaging. Currently, I’m working on a board board of mini-collages. These are two pages I completed this morning. There’s something very meditative about playing with form & colour this way. #papercollage
A child’s board book is being repurposed as a canvas for - series of small paper collages. The collages are created using an assortment of hand-painted papers. The image includes two pages composed of papers that are primarily red, orange and pink in colour, arranged in abstract patterns. The lower page has a single red heart as a focal point.

By all accounts, Lunenburg Harbour Folk Festival was a huge success again this year. We only made it Thursday evening and yesterday afternoon but it felt great to be back for the first time since the pandemic began. We still masked up, of course. #StillMasking

For those following along, my meals this week have been quixotic at best. Fortunately, I found the time & energy to do a little better tonight - voila grilled zucchini & halloumi on homemade jalapeño cheese sourdough finished with fresh oregano, garlic scape salt & a drizzle of balsamic. Yum!

It’s a new creative outlet for me. I’m not very good at it but I find the process quite meditative. Like doing jigsaw puzzles.

Not the most beautiful solution but functional. The elevated rain barrel effectively provides running water to the greenhouse, which watering a breeze.

Nature is truly amazing. On the way to the beach, I counted 5 types of wildflowers blooming within yards of this rocky shoreline. I’m not sure what’s growing between the rocks but it’s tough AF. Reminds me of a lot of East Coast folks I know.
A small plant with long leaves and dried out flower stocks from last year is growing in a modest clump of earth wedged between two rock outcroppings a few feet from shore.

For rain showers but we’ve mostly had fog and very mild temperatures. Perfect for enjoying an almost empty campground. This is the view from our piece of the beach.

It’s a good day that starts with a (slow) run along Risser’s Beach.

A boardwalk running across the marsh behind the beach stretches into the distance. To the left and right, bright green grasses and other plants provide a pop of colour.
