Attacking unarmed civilians with 3000+ armed men in full body armour and announcing they can basically kill with impunity, isn't just mind games, it's a tactic to remain in power.

The "Minister of encourage AI to intrude into every aspect of your online life and privacy without regulation at the behest of the techbros" might be a more apt description. Notwithstanding his past sleazy behaviour, his pronouncements on AI show he doesn't have Canadian's best interests in mind.

The only real “power” they have is to withhold funding, which is a pretty blunt instrument. Plus, the wording of the act is unfortunately vague in important ways. My point is simply that we should be focusing our attention mainly on provincial gov’ts since they are primarily responsible.
