Demand-Side Sheepdog
@writing.dog
That Weird Chicago Submarine Lady; also, a literal coyote who can type. Writing dog, history geek; she/her/DOG/etc. Romance at short notice is my specialty; deep space is my dwelling place, but I keep a flat in Berlin. Solidarity forever!
I accept the delay, but strongly question United’s choice to operate a nonstop transatlantic flight via hot air balloon.

In general, I think companies finding regulatory loopholes is Bad. That said: as unintended consequences of the Jones “How Did This Stick Get In My Bike Wheel???” Act go, at least building a 200-foot railroad in Canada to claim you’re really an international shipper doesn’t have a body count :P
December 2, 2025 at 11:36 AM
And really, what company *wouldn’t* jump at running ads next to a grown-up SmarterChild whimpering: “You’re exactly right! I see now that your unbalanced wheel would indeed work as you explained, Master” before suggesting “some other ways the first law of thermodynamics can be violated”?

Woke up early because the crows are unhappy so everyone must also be unhappy :P

Well that’s fine; nothing but love for my covid friends.

Anyway! I love you all! Welcome to Monday! Make some noise!

To fix my brain my psychiatrist has prescribed: bisexuality.

Let’s see how it goes!

See? Fire: all gone! Thing that was on fire: all gone! Ordinary extinguishers neglect that part!

*God, I love being a coyote* XD

Life hack: make water an even more effective fire extinguisher just by carefully adding an additional oxygen atom!

For example, sigmavirus does nothing to fruit flies except that it makes carbon dioxide kill them faster (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...) and, more importantly, also allowed me to find the perfect Wikipedia article.

The frankly rather blasé use of “vertebrate and/or arthropod” in this family tree of rhabdoviridae perturbs me, in that I did not need to confront the possibility of Spider Rabies in my day-to-day life. Fortunately, it appears that arthropods develop other conditions instead.

I did not realize how the 1910 census had recorded Myrtle’s name until I found another source and: no, I am not going to keep that around as an alternate, thanks XD

Good morning, lovelies~ I hope that your week is going well. May I introduce you to a new Blessed Dog? This one was quite alert but also quite well-behaved, and I’ve always wondered what either of those would feel like.

Anyway! Have a wonderful day, all!

There is a house in Worceſter they call the Rising Sun

Wile E. Coyote catches the Road Runner in exactly one episode—where, having been shrunk down in size, he can only ask: NOW WHAT DO I DO?

Anyway on (surprisingly) only my second attempt I have separated and extracted a Quantity of elemental sodium, although I have no idea why :P

You may be interested to know that one of the coyote’s signature crimes around the turn of the century was stealing melons, an act of mischief farmers swore happened regularly up until the 40s or so.

(I assume this youthful prank was their gateway to the darker thrill of seducing housepets)

…I realize my posts have kind of been... different, of late, so let us inaugurate Monday with a new Blessed Dog, who was very alert and attentive for a grey, clammy end-of-October day <3

I hope that you are all doing well, though, and that you have a good week!

Good afternoon, all~ I hope you are well! Have some foliage from my psychiatrist’s office, where we have decided that my level of Sad Bitch Pills is fine where it is but my dosage of Dumb Bitch Pills should go up. I am optimistic! Maybe because I am better at not being Sad these days :D

Finally got around to putting a sticker on my new laptop!

The body is round :3

Seasoning… complete-ish. Kosher salt for scale.

It’s so shiny! :3

Good morning, all~ I hope you’re having a good week! I did not encounter a new Blessed Dog this morning. I encountered *two* new Blessed Dogs this morning. The brown one looked over at me and I instinctively told it “that’s right, you’re a dog!” as if this was in dispute.

Like a normal person :D

The ratio of energy used for space heating to cooling is also constant across household income, and more or less constant by household size and square footage.

(Numbers in million BTU/year, average within cohort; data from the EIA: www.eia.gov/consumption/...)
September 30, 2025 at 12:29 PM
Incidentally: lest the “global” part lead you to ponder: “well, do fewer people *globally* even use air conditioners?” heating takes more energy than cooling in every region of the United States, ranging from 1.2:1 in the Southwest (where it's closest) to 13:1 in New England.

Good morning, all! I am back at the office after two weeks of being sick, which is… whatever, I guess. But on the other hand, today started with a new Blessed Dog, so I can and will have no complaints <3
September 30, 2025 at 7:53 AM
Good morning, all~ the day brings to us a new Blessed Dog, and I think that this is important and valid. I hope that you are doing well, that you have a sufficient quantity of blessed dogs in your life, and that the week is all ready treating you all together all right <3
