One of my wife's friends warned us before we had a kid that "one of the hardest parts of being a parent is trying not to laugh when they do something that's bad but also really funny." He was 100% correct.

Still weird to me that people insist on taking oaths on a book where the main character says "don't make oaths" and also says all sorts of stuff about compassion, welcoming strangers, taking care of orphans, etc. that they have no intention of doing.

It's the life she chose for herself, no sympathy. She could have chosen to put her connections, wealth, and elite education (Albany Academy, Harvard) to good use but has not.

I have a 2019 station wagon... last year Buick made that model. Gas efficiency standards have nothing to do with why manufacturers don't make station wagons anymore.

Maybe they looked at "the air coming out of the airplane vent," not "the person two inches from me who i've never met before and who has a respiratory illness." Not much cabin air filters can do about the second thing.

The detailed world building makes me a little tired as a reader. I don’t really want a 30 page explanation of the history of the whatever mines or the entire dynasty of the kingdom, just give me the story lol.

So many of tolkiens names are just straight up random Anglo saxon words. I guess he thought no one would notice lol.

That’s the Wheaton college I remember. A little weird, a little argumentative about theology, but just ready to do the right thing when the chips were down.

We gave up bringing homemade pies to my wife’s relatives. They would ignore them and go straight for the store pies. Lovely people otherwise.
