A clipper system will bring scattered light snow showers through the Northland from west to east Thursday night and Friday morning. Winds become light with low temperatures in the single digits and low teens. After snow showers pass through the Northland Friday morning, strong westerly winds will bring an arctic air mass on top of the region for the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will cool from the teens for highs to below zero from Friday evening through Sunday morning. Wind chill readings will range from -20° to -40°.

A high-pressure system will bring partly cloudy skies to most of the Northland Wednesday night and calm winds. Low temperatures will be in the single digits above and below zero. The Northland will see some sunshine at times Thursday, but a weak disturbance will bring a chance for isolated snow showers west of Highway 53 in the afternoon. Winds remain very light with high temperatures in the teens and low 20s.

A clipper system will bring snow showers across the Northland Tuesday night, mainly along and south of Highway 2. Winds will become a bit breezy with low temperatures in the single digits and lower half of the teens. The Northland will see some sunshine return to the region Wednesday as cloud cover decreases. High temperatures will warm to the teens, but a breezy northerly wind will make it feel closer to 0°.

A clipper system will bring snow showers through the Northland from west to east Monday evening and overnight. The highest snowfall totals of 3 to 6 inches will be north of Highway 2. Winds become light with low temperatures in the single digits and teens. After a dry Tuesday morning, a new clipper system will pass through the Northland during the afternoon, evening, and overnight hours with more snow showers. Winds remain light with high temperatures in the upper teens and 20s.

After a break from the snow Tuesday morning, a second system passes through during the afternoon, evening, and overnight hours.

This system will bring the highest snowfall totals along and south of Highway 2, and it will fall heavy at times.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for southern Aitkin, Burnett, and Pine counties from noon Tuesday, December 9, 2025, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Snowfall in this area will be 4 to 8 inches. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for northern Aitkin, Ashland, Bayfield, Carlton, Douglas, Iron, Sawyer, southern St. Louis, and Washburn counties for 3 to 6 inches of snowfall. When the snow is done falling across the Northland from this back-to-back clipper system situation, total snowfall will be 4 to 6 inches for much of the Northland. The highest totals are likely going to be in the I-35 corridor and the southern half of northwest Wisconsin. There snowfall will be 5 to 8-plus inches.

This arrival of subzero air is right on schedule climatologically - we typically see the first zero or colder reading this time of year. (Long term average for the current airport location is ~Nov 30).

A high-pressure system will bring partly cloudy skies across the Northland Wednesday night. Winds will be light, but low temperatures will be below zero. This will push wind chill readings to the -15° to -25° level at times. Clouds will increase across the Northland Thursday morning ahead of a clipper system, with scattered light snow showers in the afternoon. Winds will become breezy from the southwest as high temperatures warm to the teens.
