To my eyes, it looks the opposite. Meaning my eyes focus more on the expanding dark areas. It is harder to focus on the decreasing light areas.

This evening's update from the U.S. National Hurricane Center on #Melissa is ominous, and explicitly mentions: "catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding...extensive infrastructural damage...and potentially prolonged isolation of communities" in both Jamaica & Haiti.

4.56 in my gauge this morning. Davis instrument recorded a highest rain rate of 16.00/hr at 6:13 this morning. Highest I have ever recorded.
