Who among us is willing to admit that they’ve looked up reviews for pill cutters? 🙋‍♂️

Most if not all of my daughter’s classes this semester (Cornell) seem to make attendance part of the grade. Maybe participation is part of it too for some classes. I don’t blame the students in the story so much as the academic system we’ve created and the messaging that networking is everything.

I wonder which classes they can skip and still get high grades? All I know is that at humble Wyoming, if students routinely skipped my genetics class they were destined to fail.

Can we just agree that the word “ideation” is terrible and that no self respecting person would ever use it, except maybe in jest?

I’m thinking that universities could save money by relieving faculty of their duties and focusing on the important things. Semi-pro sports, semi-pro sorority rush, and allowing students to segregate themselves into “exclusive” clubs for the purpose of networking after college.

I love our state’s community colleges. The facilities and instruction can be top notch and the education is incredibly affordable. And through our statewide NIH INBRE program, students have an opportunity to carry out legit research and to see what science is like close up!
