The more time goes on and the more GenAI is pushed, the more and more grateful I am for being forced to read Aquinas and Aristotle. I think too much light is made of the uniqueness of human cognition and the will to outsource that to a symbol generator is sinful.

I'm bearish on Rust this week because a daemon that runs on basically every host at work is being rewritten in Rust from C++ and they're doing it piecemeal using bindings. This part is fine. The pain is that they're introducing new exceptions in the Rust code that aren't handled in the C++ side.

I've only just clocked that all of the rewrites of core system tools in Rust are also *just happened* to be licensed under MIT. Enshittification of FOSS OSes is inevitable, I fear.
