We checked another bucket list item off. Machu Picchu lives up to the hype – it’s a breathtaking expanse, combining Inca architecture with the grandeur of the Andes. 12 days encompassing Machu Picchu, Lima/Cusco, and 5 days by boat in the upper Amazon basin. This travel thing is pretty special.

Posting a few extra "birds of Borneo" pics left over from a recent trip so my Bluesky account doesn't get too stale.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

Sometimes you need a good friend to tell you the truth.

"Washington has become the court of Nero, an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers, and a jester high on ketamine in charge of purging the civil service."

Pretty confident I'm not much amplification, but this is a fascinating piece.
I'd love people's help getting this out into major subreddits. Especially ones frequented by technology workers. The more people in Silicon Valley who know the truth, the better. www.notesfromthecircus.com/p/the-plot-a...

Even if you believe that this is a sound policy decision (it isn't), just the way it's been implemented is killing people and weakening the country. Madness.

I never even learned about the Tulsa Race Massacre until in my 50s. Amongst all the crazy, today came this DOJ report confirming the details. 1/3

THREAD: In 2023, I received an envelope with no return address. Inside was a flash drive containing tens of 1000s of secret files.

It came from a vigilante with a tumultuous past, who'd conducted a years-long undercover operation. He didn’t tell the FBI or his family. He only told me.

Another sad happenstance out of sight of the bright shiny culture wars. The Loper Bright decision is a gift that keeps on taking.

This one has stuck with me. It's easy to watch the shiny issues in politics, while boring policy over time can have tremendous impacts.
1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.
