Sausage/yam/chutney/mango skillet. Can’t post a picture cause we’re still sitting around figuring out who has to get up and cook it.

Maybe. But wd like to do something that has a high probability of passing. Art of the possible and all that. In any case, won’t pass now, but if Ds propose something that benefits older voters, mking Rs oppose it wd be great campaign fodder.

And not just wealthy; cd be modestly middle class homeowners too in some areas. And I get it, they’re right. But we need to build the homes to help young people get started.

And it won’t likely happen unless Dems can win both houses + the Presidency.

accurately describe US or Canada; and there many health care systems we cd look at for ideas. The dvlped world is an encyclopedia of different models w varying mixtures of public & private. A serious convo abt healthcare wd look at all of these, examine what wd work well for us and what wd not.
November 9, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Yes, I think a gradual & pragmatic approach is necessary. And it will probably always be some mixture of public and private. One thing I think nds to change abt the American debate on healthcare is it often gets reduced to a simple binary of “public like Canada vs private like US.” Doesn’t…

the constituency for this? Even among many of Trump’s voters, this lunacy isn’t going to be popular. Seems like an admin increasingly in the clutches of a few syncophants, groyper fanatics, and a senile kleptocrat, more & more isolated from reality.

radical chg than M4A, wd give health care to many ppl who need it, and wd let us begin expanding Medicare system.
November 9, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Or systems like Germany’s which use a mixture of public and private. I’m not sure M4A cd pass even if Ds capture both chambers in ‘26, but Ds cd start by proposing to lower Medicare eligibility age by, say, 5 yrs. Wd be popular w a lot of voters nearing Medicare age, wd seem a less…

Not that interested in the nostalgia, right or wrong, just want California to build a lot more housing so my kids can afford to buy a home here.
November 9, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Oof. Newsom cd win dpnding how unpopular Trump gets, and esp if he tips the economy into recession. But wd really rather see Ds nominate a successful, popular governor from a swing state, like Shapiro.
November 8, 2025 at 9:06 PM
Monumental stupidity by Trump. If he had simply not f‘d up the economy, improved border security, let inflation come down as it was gradually doing anyway, then Rs mt hv retained decent numbers. Instead, thugs abusing ppl, tariffs, DOGE, & gilded extravaganzas in the WH. A script for losing bigly.

It’ll take years if we’re lucky to repair the economic damage, and the broader damage to alliances. My Canadian relatives hv generally been very pro-US, vacationed here often, etc.. Now they all avoid US products & won’t set foot here. That damage is generational at least.

Fair point w this statute. Throwing anything at people is a bad idea, generally likely to lead to assault charges, but jury did the right thing here.
November 8, 2025 at 2:56 PM
That is how Dems shd talk abt Vance & Trump - break the populist myth.

it’s also worth keeping in mind that by 1933, the level of repression in Germany was already far beyond what it is here today; there was no longer any real way to remove the Nazis electorally. Tom’s right to emphasize that we do.
