It’s odd that there’s not been much noise about X-Men #8 in the wake of Beast’s heel turn, because Ben Percy’s Beast is pretty much the logical endpoint of “first defector/pro-Magneto X-Man” & “guy who purposely overloads a dude’s powers so he can use the threat of starvation as a leash”

Interested to hear @johnlk.bsky.social’s thoughts on X-Men #8, where Beast intentionally overloads Unus’ power so he can extort Unus into nonviolence. Even for the Silver Age it’s an unusually dickish way to defeat a villain, and it seems a primary point of reference for Ben Percy’s X-Force
