I wrote a short story while listening to Ace Combat 7 ost on repeat (to be exact: “Drag Racer”, the track that plays in the intro cinematic)
I hope that, if you look closely, you can see which scene in the text corresponds to which part of the music.

She turned around to behold 5 people, all bundled up in black clothing, scampering across the spaceport pavement in various disheveled states. "Is this everyone?" She called. "Y..." one of them stopped, panting with his hands on his knees. "Yeah, this is everyone." "Great." She motioned for them to follow. "Hurry up, I'm freezing here." "Welcome, friends," Dolores crowed as the six plane-jackers entered the main hangar, "to my humble abode". "It's even more beautiful in person...." Serica looked up at the spaceplane's fuselage, awe painted across her face. "Hey, don't get ahead of yourself. We still have pre-flight checks to run." "Right, right." Kaveh sighed and shouldered his bag, and the Chinese woman followed him to the other room. Dolores climbed up the ladder into the passenger cabin, walking on the carpet across leather seats and wood-veneered cabinets. For years, she labored with countless others, working day and night to build this marvel of technology and luxury. And to think tomorrow, it would be filled with nepo-babies and robber-barons, and her fellow workers wouldn't even get an afterthought. She smirked to herself. This was way better than any 2-week notice. Tonight she'd show them. ------

The snow fell like tiny ballerinas in the cold, brisk winter dusk. Somewhere, wedged between two large building, remains a small brick townhouse, the ground floor occupied by a café where many a local gather at for a bit of warmth. The doorbell rings, the skunky barista turning their head whilst preparing a latte for a waiting customer to see the eager possat awaiting to ask for her favourite beverage. At one of the seats, a snow leopard, busy writing and enjoying their cup of comfort. Work days were long, demanding and tiring, but Espresso wouldn't have it any other way. Having built a small community around their dinky, but cozy hole-in-the-wall coffee shop was what they were always after. Seeing their customers' smile, day after day, easily offsets the wear of the daily, incessant coffee and tea brewing for hundreds of faces, regulars and only-once-on-a-visit-in-town alike.
