Andrew Cuomo says he would as mayor seek to keep Rikers Island open and "rebuild it the right way" so that the jail complex becomes "humane" and "efficient."

This would require the City Council to undo its 2019 law mandating that Rikers be replaced with borough-based jails.

a lot of the Hades 2 critique has been kind of over the top but this gets closest to my take. it’s probably possible to make it compelling, narratively, for things to stay the same, but I don’t think they achieved that here. a lot happening offscreen in a way that makes the story feel shallow.

Around 11:30 p.m. last night, Mayor Adams' office announced he's going to Albania this week.
