Like sure "you can talk to the computer and it does stuff"is appealing since that's Star Trek and we want to live in Star Trek. But "you can talk to the computer and then it lies to you" is 2001: A Space Odyssey and we don't really want to live in that.

I’m the note-taker in our party; my character is the paper-obsessed wizard so it makes sense for her.

But I think it’s the timing. Taking meticulous notes on loot after combat mirrors the party‘s own downtime. RP notes I take down as recollections after the game, so we can be ready next time.
